Huntington Beach Bike Path

I continued a fabulous First Day of the year with a family ride along the bike path at Huntington Beach in a 6-person surrey with by Sunshine, Econ, Panda, and Cupcake. Huntington Beach stretches for miles along the Pacific Coast Highway lined with palm trees.

At first light on the first morning in California, I set off from Newport Beach to Dana Point along the Pacific Coast Highway. Howth, Ireland

Today I set out from Dublin heading northward along the coast to the peninsular town of Howth. There were cycle lanes for most of the ride, a lovely climb to the summit, a fun ride along the cliff path, and great views all along the way. I stopped en route to enjoy a scone. 27... On the return trip, I stopped in Kahuku for some fried shrimp, fresh from the ocean. Paired with orange passion soda and sticky rice balls . . .... Continue Reading →

Lisboa’s Rio Tejo

The Rio Tejo (Tagus River) is the longest river on the Iberian Peninsula and it empties into the Atlantic Ocean at Lisboa (Lisbon), Portugal. This morning I grabbed a bike and rode about 10 miles from Lisboa's airport to the Torre de Belém near the mouth of the river. Then, I truly savored my visit... Continue Reading →

Maui South Shore

This morning I rode with Sunshine along Maui's south shore, from Kihei to Wailea and back again. We rode a mix of trails and roads, with one stretch on the sand as the surf crashed beneath us. California Coast

I rode Via Real from Carpinteria to Santa Barbara, which provided a nice view of the highway (101) and coast as well as views of farms, flowers, a polo club, and enormous homes. Coast Village was a charming little town. Entrance to the Santa Barbara home of Harry and Meghan I returned to Carpinteria and... Continue Reading →

Carpinteria

I spent most the day on a plane and in a car, but I arrived in sunny Carpinteria, CA, with just enough time for a quick afternoon spin along the coast before evening business meetings. I rode down Linden Avenue to the Salt Marsh, then along coast, passing campgrounds, beaches, tar pits, and a seal... Continue Reading →

Oahu North Shore

I set out around 8:30 this morning for a long ride along Oahu's north shore, from Laie to Ka'ena Point and back again. The long stretch of coast features around 50 eye-catching beaches with maritime nature preserves and legendary 30-foot swells that draw snorkelers and surfers alike. The ride was good with beautiful vistas, the... Continue Reading →
