Huntington Beach Bike Path

I continued a fabulous First Day of the year with a family ride along the bike path at Huntington Beach in a 6-person surrey with by Sunshine, Econ, Panda, and Cupcake. Huntington Beach stretches for miles along the Pacific Coast Highway lined with palm trees.

Barbie Land

Tonight Sunshine joined me for a lovely ride through Barbie Land - a string of about 20 homes on the Island at Daybreak all decorated in the theme of the Barbie Movie. The community display went viral and was picked up in local and national media, including USA Today and People. When surging visitor numbers... Continue Reading →

Maui South Shore

This morning I rode with Sunshine along Maui's south shore, from Kihei to Wailea and back again. We rode a mix of trails and roads, with one stretch on the sand as the surf crashed beneath us. Gorgeous views in Kalama Park, the three Kama'ole Beach Parks, and Keawakapu Beach Park II. Looking toward Lanai... Continue Reading →

Key West

Sunshine and I left our resort on Stock Island and crossed over onto Key West. We followed North Roosevelt Boulevard to Midtown where we hit White, Eaton, and Duval Streets. Fairmount Park

On Saturday afternoon I caught up with my sister and her adorable little family. We rented a surrey and enjoyed a marvelous warm sunny time in Fairmount Park, with its river and statues and ice cream truck. Especially the ice cream truck. We had a wildely delicious time!

City Creek BST

This morning I went for a ride with Sunshine up City Creek Canyon and along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BST). The trail loosely follows the shoreline of the ancient Lake Bonneville, the largest Late Pleistocene paleolake in the Great Basin of western North America.

Pa’rus Trail in Zion National Park

The Pa'rus Trail runs along the bank of the Virgin River from the Visitor Center in Zion National Park upward into Zion Canyon. The trail name comes from the Paiute word for "bubbling water" and offered views of the water, the towering rock walls of the canyon, and a few deer. The trail is a... Continue Reading →

Freedom Trail in Boston

Today Sunshine and I got day passes on Boston's Blue Bikes and spent the day moving throughout the city, on and off the bikes. We started on the Harvard campus, where we saw the Apthorp House and other lovely campus buildings and public spaces. After crossing the Charles River on the John W. Weeks footbridge,... Chicago Lakefront

Today the whole family participated in one of the most fun things we have ever done together--all six of us rode a surrey bike along the Chicago waterfront!
