About

During the pandemic of 2020, I replaced my daily commute with biking. I live beside a creek where the great salty sea laps the rising Rockies, surrounded by trails, parks, canyons, lakes, and ghost towns that offer endless possibilities for exciting RIDES. Every now and again, I also enjoy some bike travel to cities and coasts and beyond. Sometimes, if I’m lucky, my rides become Family Rides when I’m joined by Sunshine, Mint, Econ, Panda, or Cupcake.

I also discovered that riding links me to my ROOTS in nature, community, and family. My employer brought me to Utah, but my ancestry runs from England, Switzerland, and Norway through the mystic seaports and maple forests of New England to the mountains of the American West.

Daily biking dramatically improved my personal health, which now allows me to relish stops at out-of-the way ‘RAUNTSbakeries, cafés, diners, burger joints, regional specials, and ice cream stands.

I push myself with regular challenges–including biking in other states and countries–and I geek out about gear, stickers, and zany socks.
